What Actually Happens During Your Remodel, Day by Day
August 12, 2026
The hardest part of living through a remodel is usually not the dust. It is not knowing who is showing up tomorrow or what is supposed to happen next. So here is the whole sequence, laid out.
Before anything is torn out
The consultation. We come look at the space and talk through what you want. You get base pricing and time to think — good projects often pick up a couple of new ideas at this stage, and that is fine.
The signed estimate. Nothing starts without one, plus any financing approved and any permit in hand. This is also where we walk through packages so you can see what an upgrade actually costs.
The color meeting. Tile, flooring, fixtures, finishes — chosen together, before the schedule is set. Choosing materials mid-project is the number one cause of delays, because a backordered tile stops everything behind it.
Once we start
Demo. Floor and stair protection goes down first. This is the loudest day and usually the fastest one.
Rough-in. Framing changes, plumbing, and electrical. Nothing looks like progress at this stage and this is the point where most homeowners get nervous. It is normal.
Inspection, where the work requires it. Sometimes this pauses us for a day. It is not wasted time — it is the part that protects you when you sell.
Close-in. Drywall, then the surfaces: tile, flooring, trim. This is when a room suddenly looks finished, almost overnight.
Finish. Fixtures, hardware, paint touch-up, and the punch list.
Changes mid-project
You are allowed to change your mind. Just know that once we are underway, a change becomes a change order: we price it, you approve it in writing, and then we do it. That is how you avoid a final invoice that does not match the estimate.
The walkthrough
We walk the finished job with you and you tell us what is not right. Say it then — not six weeks later. Anything on that list gets handled before the last payment.
Then the workmanship warranty starts, and the term depends on the project and any material warranty you bought with it. We will have told you exactly what yours covers before you signed.
